Proposals are being sought for events, conferences, exhibitions and other games-related industry, education or public activities to join the MIGW 2019 umbrella program.

About Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW)

Melbourne International Games Week is Asia Pacific’s largest digital games celebration featuring a mix of conferences, events, exhibitions, activities and networking opportunities, for the games industry, games enthusiasts, educationalists and the public.

Established by the Victorian Government in 2015, MIGW brings together key decision makers, creative thinkers, influencers, innovators, media and industry professionals. Events across the week seek to celebrate the latest in games and provide a platform to explore opportunities and trends, identify collaborators and develop the games industry community.

Showcasing PAX Australia, MIGW is a public event held in October, drawing in excess of 76,000 people in 2018.  The program comprises many independent events supported by strong marketing campaigns that come together seamlessly to deliver a world class, multi-day experience. MIGW is growing each year and is now firmly fixed as one of the state’s premier events, attracting major local and international interest.

MIGW is about driving prosperity, industry collaboration, industry engagement and building a global brand that positions Melbourne as a hub for digital games development. MIGW events appeal to public, education and/or industry audiences. Events are designed to stimulate creative thinking, build sound business to business foundations, build a sense of community and must be a safe, inclusive environment for all.

Do you want to stage an event as part of MIGW?

Any organisation can submit an expression of interest in having an event included as part of the official MIGW program. Successful applicants will see their events sharing a week-long program with major digital games events like PAX Australia, Games Connect Asia Pacific and Film Victoria’s Game for Change lunch, ACMI’s Education in Games Summit and the official Welcome to Melbourne dinner for international media and guests.

All official MIGW events will be given exposure through MIGW social media channels and will benefit from the PR & Communications campaign driven by a local PR team.

 MIGW EVENT DATES:  Saturday 5 to Sunday 13 October 2019

 Eligibility

To be included in the MIGW program, events must be staged during MIGW (October 5-13, 2019). A strong submission will detail how the event aligns with the vision for MIGW; what benefits will accrue to participants and organisers as a result of their participation; that all related permits will be secured; and, the event will comply with relevant laws and regulations.

  1. Event must be staged within the published dates of MIGW
  2. Event must be self-funded and self-managed
  3. Event must be of a high standard and align with the values and vision of MIGW
  4. Event must not detract from or compete with any other MIGW event or activity
  5. Event must secure all necessary permits and comply with laws and regulations
  6. Event must align with one or more of MIGW’s three audience segments – games industry, the education sector or the general public

Creative Victoria will convene an independent panel to assess applications against eligibility criteria.

Application process

EOI Applications are now open and the deadline for receipt of submissions is 5.00pm on Friday 16 August 2019.

Successful Applicants

Successful applicants will be notified by email no later than Friday 30 August 2019. All successful applicants must include the MIGW logo on their marketing collateral including, but not restricted to website, printed material and third-party booking sites. Advertising guidelines and logo pack will be provided to participants after acceptance into the program.

MIGW19 Expression of Interest

  • Tell us how long you've been in business for, number of employee's, type of product/services delivered.
  • Include any products and/or services that may be showcased during event. Not more than 100 words.
  • To be accepted, the event must take place within MIGW dates.
  • Explain how the event is financially sustainable and how you will manage the event. Note: Event must be self-managed and self-funded
  • Your budget should list income and expenditure and show what is confirmed and unconfirmed
  • Event must be designed for one or more of the three audience segments – public, education and/or industry
  • Event organiser is responsible for securing all permits and be compliant with laws and regulations. E.g.: food permits, responsible service of alcohol, use of music, etc.
