All aboard Locomojam! – applications open for Australia’s first-ever train jam as part of Melbourne International Games Week
Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW) kicks off with a rollicking ride aboard Australia’s first train jam ‘Locomojam’ – an epic 37-hour journey from Brisbane to Melbourne where game developers collaborate and create new games fast and from scratch, 5 – 6 October.
Up to 50 participating ‘jammers’ will join the trip of a lifetime, sharing ideas, skills and inspiration to plan, design and create innovative new games which will be showcased at PAX AUS during MIGW.
Locomojam is inspired by the hugely successful Train Jam in the United States. It’s an open gender event that celebrates diversity, and designers, artists, writers, coders, musicians, audio technicians and producers are encouraged to get on-board.
Locomojam organiser and Global Game Jam Melbourne Producer Giselle Rosman said MIGW is all about creative inspiration and Locomojam takes jammers out of their usual environment and into an adventurous space to spark creativity.
“Locomojam is an exciting way for Australian game developers to connect and fire-up their creativity in the lead-up to MIGW.”
“Developers with diverse backgrounds and experiences will come together, get clever and creative, share experiences, try zany ideas and have a ridiculous amount of fun on the way.”
Locomojam commences from Roma Street Station Brisbane and travels via Sydney where jammers will stay, play and create overnight at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE), before embarking on the second leg to Melbourne.
Jammers will arrive at MIGW for Games Connect Asia Pacific (GCAP) – Australia’s premier game development conference, attended by over 1,000.
Applications for Locomojam open today until 1 September and places are strictly limited. Tickets $80. APPLY NOW.
Now in its fifth year, MIGW is the largest games festival in Asia Pacific, with 30+ conferences, events, and activities for gamers, industry, educators and families. More than 77,000 people will attend over nine days to explore the future of games, network and test their playing skills!
