Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW) is Asia Pacific’s largest digital games celebration featuring conferences, events and activities for the games industry, games enthusiasts, the general public and educationalists.

Melbourne, and the state of Victoria, is the capital of digital games in Australia.

This year, over 1,000 game developers, many from overseas, participate in key industry-only events including Game Connect Asia Pacific, Unite Melbourne, as exhibitors at PAX Australia, the Women in Games Lunch and the Australian Game Developer Awards.

Many more people from the general public to games enthusiasts don their cosplay outfits and attend MIGW Family Sunday: Mario and his Friends and PAX Australia; play Wayfinder Live, a street game by digital artist Troy Innocent; and attend ACMI’s Code Breakers exhibition celebrating the achievements of Australian and New Zealand women working in video games.

The Education in Games Summit informs teachers about new technologies supporting the delivery of the digital curriculum and experience what some of the more progressive schools are doing in this area.
The week’s events are held in close proximity in some of Melbourne’s biggest and best event venues, from the Australian Centre for the Moving Image to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
