Creative Exchange: Mind Games

Creative Exchange: Mind Games – Mental health and the world of digital games

-

According to the latest data, there are approximately 3.09 billion active video gamers worldwide. That figure has risen by over 1 billion in just seven years and is expected to hit 3.32 billion by 2024.

As the world of digital gaming grows exponentially, a new avenue of research examining how video games can be valuable tools for self-exploration and positively influence mental well-being has also emerged.

This Creative Exchange brings together one eminent international and two internationally renowned guests to discuss why people game, where gaming and mental health can intersect, and how gamification is being employed across many different industry sectors to improve mental well-being.

The Creative Exchange speakers are:

  • Sarah Sorrell, CEO of Safe in our World, a UK based not-for-profit working to foster positive mental health awareness and wellbeing, delivering support for gamers and the games industry.
  • Associate Professor in psychology at RMIT University and one of Australia’s leading experts in online gaming addictions, Dr Vasileios Stavropoulos has just returned from hosting a global conference in Korea on games and wellbeing.
  • Darren Vukasinovic has over twenty-five years’ experience in enterprise digital, filmmaking and tech startups, and is currently working at the cutting edge of VR/AR/MR media technologies.
