Reworlding: Cardigan Commons

Reworlding: Cardigan Commons

-

Building on five years of experimental urban play, future play lab presents a story-driven LARP where speculative fiction meets urban adventure at a village carnival as part of RMIT’s City North Fest Weekend.

How do we live together in 2050? During a weekend street party on Cardigan Street, competing visions for the future come into conflict. Resources are scarcer than ever, but knowledges both old and new have gained new vitality. Reworlding has shifted from theory to practice, embracing actions for change, do-it-together methods, mapped by signs of life hidden in plain sight.

Life finds a way. Meanwhile the street finds its own uses for things.

Join an experiment in shared world building through live action role-play set in 2050 as Naarm Melbourne becomes a megacity during a global climate emergency. This original game design is informed by research with First Peoples, urbanists and futurists, artists and designers, policymakers and gamemakers on design and cities. What kind of world will we build together? Play to find out.

This 2-day event is supported through RMIT’s ‘City North Fest. A Shared Futures Series’ which aims to bring audiences together to consider the future of the precinct through various interactive activities, immersive experiences, events, and demonstrations.
